Latest Chapter News Wednesday, November 1, 2006 As we rapidly enter the holiday season and see the end of the year approaching, it's a good time to look back on all we've done as a chapter this past year. There was a vision in the chapter this year to not just produce a rodeo, but to produce as much fun and excitement as possible along the way. No one can argue that we haven't done exactly that. With our quarterly dances, our rough stock rodeo schools, our private shopping nights, participation in Pride events, and a whole lot of community events in between, it's been one heck of a great year for the chapter. Oh yeah, the rodeo was a big success too! None of this would have been possible without the dedication and determinination of the many volunteers that made it all happen. As a token of appreciation to all who've volunteered, we've arranged a wonderful event for you this coming Saturday. You should have already gotten your invite and details. We certainly hope you can make it! And, we can't say it enough, thank you for all you've done for the chapter! Now... on with this week's news. Volunteer Appreciation Party - Nov 4th Everyone who volunteered their time at one of many events this past year should have already gotten an invitation to this Saturday's special appreciation party. If you haven't yet done so, please take a moment to RSVP so we can get a firm count on how many of you can make it. It's going to be a great time! IGRA Finals Rodeo - Nov 10th-12th Hopefully you already know this, but next weekend (Nov. 10th through 12th) is the IGRA Finals Rodeo in Reno, Nevada. This year's finals marks 30 years of gay rodeo and where better to celebrate than in the very city where it all began. With many GSGRA contestants invited to compete in the rodeo, with the step down of our Mr. IGRA Steve Wollert (from San Diego), the competition for the new royalty team, and a whole lot of partying in-between... you definitely want to be in Reno. For complete details, visit http://www.renogayrodeo.com Chapter Meeting - Nov 14th Our final general chapter meeting before the Annual Meeting will be held on Tuesday, November 14th at Marlenas (488 Hayes Street, SF). The meeting begins at 7:30 and offers a lively discussion as we recap things from the year, discuss details of our Annual Meeting, and help set the course for the new board to be elected in December. Hope you can make it! Winter Ball - Dec 2nd Our quarterly dances have been very popular this year and this next one could quite possibly be our biggest yet. The holiday season around the city gets quite busy, so be sure to put this on your calendar now. It'll be a night of non-stop country/western dancing in the Grand Ballroom of the Cathedral Hill Hotel (1101 Van Ness Ave., SF) from 8 pm - 1 am. You can count on plenty of fun, a festive crowd, and other wonderful surprises. Annual Meeting - Dec 11th All chapter members are encouraged to attend this year's Annual Meeting. It is at this meeting that we look back on the past year, celebrate our success, and elect our board for 2007. It's a very important meeting for the chapter and the more members we have present, the better. Breaking from the norm... this year's chapter meeting will be held Monday, December 11th at Chevy's Fresh Mex restaurant located at 3rd & Howard in San Francisco. Beginning at 6:00 pm, you'll be treated to a wonderful spread of food. The meeting will begin sharply at 7:00 pm. Please take a moment to mark your calendars and we'll look forward to seeing you there. 2007 Board Nominations The nominations process for the 2007 Board of Directors elections has begun. If you have anyone in mind for the offices of President, VP of Administration, VP of Rodeo Operations, Treasurer, or Secretary, please drop a quick note to our Nominations Committee Chair, Chad Heintz, by emailing nominations@bayarearodeo.com. Proposals for changes to either of these will be voted on at our Annual Meeting on December 11th. All members are encouraged to review the current Bylaws and Standing Rules documents and submit any proposals you may have to our Bylaws Committee Chair, Mikel Edwards, by emailing bylaws@bayarearodeo.com.
