Latest Chapter News Tuesday, October 10, 2006 Congratulations are in order to the new Mr. & Miss Gay San Francisco--John & Mercedez. The Bay Area Chapter was honored to be a part of a fantastic pageant last Saturday and we very much look forward to working with the new team during their reign over the next year. Now... on with this week's news. Chapter Meeting - Oct 10th Between our rodeo wrap-up, the planning for our Volunteer Appreciation Party and our Winter Ball, and the news from IGRA convention, we'll have plenty to talk about at our next chapter meeting. We hope you can make it. Marlena's - 488 Hayes St., SF - Tuesday October, 10th - 7:30 pm. Sundance Stompede - Oct 12th - 15th The Sundance Stompede is San Francisco's country-western dance weekend for the LGBT community. You can count on awesome dance parties plus hours & hours of fantastic dance workshops. For complete details and to plan your weekend, visit the official Stompede website today. www.stompede.com "Tour de Castro" Tricycle Race - Oct 21st At noon on Saturday, October 21st, the Sisters of Perpetual indulgence will be hosting their outrageous "Tour de Castro"--a race, bar crawl, costume, raffle, fundraising extravaganza benefiting AIDS Lifecycle Bike Riders in need of donations to raise the minimum requirement by registration day. It should be a wonderfully fun event and the Sisters have asked their rodeo friends for a little help. If you're free that day and can make it down to help out with the event, please drop an email to Doug Havrilka, secretary@bayarearodeo.com, for more information. IGRA Finals Rodeo - Reno - Nov 10-12 Join your fellow chapter members as we all make the short journey up to Reno in about 4 weeks for the IGRA Finals rodeo. This rodeo marks the 30th anniversary of the very first gay rodeo which was held in Reno and it's shaping up to be a fantastic event. There are a lot of contestants from California that have been invited to compete in this year's finals, so you can count on having plenty of people to cheer for. And when the rodeo is over each day, you can definitely count on some great parties--it is Reno after all! Complete details can be found at www.renogayrodeo.com Mark Your Calendars! With our quarterly dances, many fundraising events, and all that comprised our Best Buck in the Bay rodeo weekend, we've had one heck of a busy (and fun) year so far as a chapter. None of this would have happened, however, had it not been for our many dedicated volunteers. It's time we all get together and celebrate these successes while showing our immense gratitude to those that made it all happen. Planning is still underway and details will be coming soon. For now... mark your calendars for Saturday November 4th. This is one party you really won't want to miss! Mark Your Calendars! Our quarterly dances have been very popular this year and this next one could quite possibly be our biggest yet. The holiday season around the city gets quite busy, so be sure to put this on your calendar now. It'll be a night of non-stop country/western dancing in the Grand Ballroom of the Cathedral Hill Hotel (1101 Van Ness Ave., SF) from 8 pm - 1 am. You can count on plenty of fun, a festive crowd, and other wonderful surprises.
That's the news for now. Stay tuned for more information next week. In the meantime, if you have any questions, comments, additions, or corrections please let us know.
