Latest Chapter News

Friday, September 29, 2006

Our apologies for the lack of an updated news blast these past few weeks. With all the activity surrounding the rodeo kick-offs and rodeo weekend itself, this newsletter was, unfortunately, neglected. Not to worry, we're back to a weekly format again.

Speaking of rodeo weekend, can we just say WOW! The production team and many dedicated volunteers did a fantastic job putting on one heck of a great event. It was a great success and all of you involved should feel quite proud.

Now... on with this week's news.

Thank You Folsom Street Fair Volunteers!

Last Sunday, many of you showed up to help pour beverages in our liquor booth at the Folsom Street Fair. What a great team of volunteers we had. The weather was great, the crowd was great, and you all kicked some serious butt! By the end of the day, more than $22,000 worth of bevages were poured at our booth and a record-setting $1,132.34 in tips were raised. A huge thank you to all who set up, torn down, took money, served the drinks, got there hands stained by those brightly colored mixers, and rattled the heck out of that tambourine. You all rocked!

Chapter Meeting - Oct 10th

Between our rodeo wrap-up, the planning for our Volunteer Appreciation Party and our Winter Ball, and the news from IGRA convention, we'll have plenty to talk about at our next chapter meeting. We hope you can make it. Marlena's - 488 Hayes St., SF - Tuesday October, 10th - 7:30 pm.

Sundance Stompede - Oct 12th - 15th

The Sundance Stompede is San Francisco's country-western dance weekend for the LGBT community. You can count on awesome dance parties plus hours & hours of fantastic dance workshops. For complete details and to plan your weekend, visit the official Stompede website today. www.stompede.com

"Tour de Castro" Tricycle Race - Oct 21st

At noon on Saturday, October 21st, the Sisters of Perpetual indulgence will be hosting their outrageous "Tour de Castro"--a race, bar crawl, costume, raffle, fundraising extravaganza benefiting AIDS Lifecycle Bike Riders in need of donations to raise the minimum requirement by registration day. It should be a wonderfully fun event and the Sisters have asked their rodeo friends for a little help. If you're free that day and can make it down to help out with the event, please drop an email to Doug Havrilka, secretary@bayarearodeo.com, for more information.

Volunteer Appreciation Party - Nov 4th

With our quarterly dances, many fundraising events, and all that comprised our Best Buck in the Bay rodeo weekend, we've had one heck of a busy (and fun) year so far as a chapter. None of this would have happened, however, had it not been for our many dedicated volunteers. It's time we all get together and celebrate these successes while showing our immense gratitude to those that made it all happen. Planning is still underway and details will be coming soon. For now... mark your calendars for Saturday November 4th. This is one party you really won't want to miss!

Mark Your Calendars!
Winter Ball - Dec 2nd

Our quarterly dances have been very popular this year and this next one could quite possibly be our biggest yet. The holiday season around the city gets quite busy, so be sure to put this on your calendar now. It'll be a night of non-stop country/western dancing in the Grand Ballroom of the Cathedral Hill Hotel (1101 Van Ness Ave., SF) from 8 pm - 1 am. You can count on plenty of fun, a festive crowd, and other wonderful surprises.
