Latest Chapter News

Friday, July 7, 2006

We're happy to report that the Calgary Rodeo excursion was a tremendous success. The presence of GSGRA members from the Bay Area and throughout California was very strong and, as a united team, GSGRA contestants walked away winning the most buckles and holding a whole lot of ribbons. Well done all!

Gloria Whole, Miss Bay Area Rodeo 2006, put on one heck of show at Harvey's last Thursday with more than 20 performers. More than $500 was raised for Under One Roof that night. A big thank you goes out to all who made it out to perform and support. It was a great way to begin what will become a monthly event there. Well done!

Then, this past Saturday, Jessica Avalon hosted the "Ho-Down in Hayward" party at Club Rumor. The crowd may have been a bit lighter than desired, but the effort was commendable. Thank you Jessica for pulling it all together and thank you to everyone who was there lending your support.

Buckin' Alley Dance - July 29th

Did you happen to make it out for our Winter Ball last January or the Buckin' Taxes dance in April? If you did, you already know how great these first two quarterly events were. If you didn't, not to worry... we're doing it again. On Saturday, July 29th (the night before the Dore Alley Street Fair) we bring you "Buckin' Alley"--an evening of non-stop country-western dancing for the LGBT community. It all gets started at 8:00 pm at the Cathedral Hill Hotel (1101 Van Ness Ave) in San Francisco with the party continuing until at least 1:00 am. Admission is $10 (free admission for new and existing GSGRA members). There's already a lot of buzz around this event... you absolutely don't want to miss it! "Up Your Alley" Street Fair - July 30th

On Sunday, July 30th summer in the city gets a whole lot hotter with the ever-popular "Up Your Alley" street fair. The Bay Area Chapter is thrilled to once again be hosting a beverage booth at the fair. If you've helped out in the booth before, you already know how much fun it really is. If you haven't yet, perhaps this is your weekend to find out first hand. Volunteers are needed for several short shifts throughout the day. Please contact our Fundraising Coordinator by emailing fundraising@bayarearodeo.com today to learn more.

Best Buck in the Bay - Only 2 Months Away!

It's may be hard to believe, but the rodeo production team has just entered into the "home stretch" leading up to this year's Best Buck in the Bay. In just over two months from today we will all be enjoying some hot rodeo action and all the festivities that comprise our "rodeo weekend." Over the next several weeks you'll be seeing a lot of promotion of the rodeo and a whole flurry of activity as we work through all the final details of everything. All of this, of course, can't happen without the concerted efforts of a whole lot of great volunteers. If you're not involved in the production planning already, now is the perfect time to jump in and lend a hand. Drop in on the rodeo production meeting this coming Tuesday at Marlena's to learn more about what's still needed... or, contact our Volunteer Coordinator by emailing volunteer@bayarearodeo.com. He'll be glad to fill you in on opportunities to help out on the weekend of our event.
