Latest Chapter News Thursday, June 8, 2006 It's official... Pride Month is here. This a very vibrant time of year in the Bay Area with many great festivities breaking out all over. It's also a big month for the chapter as it marks the beginning of our "full court press" promoting our upcoming rodeo & festival. Additionally, it creates a tremendous opportunity for all of us to come together and raise greater awareness of gay rodeo and country-western dancing in our community. We hope you'll join us in all the fun! Now, on with this week's news... San Jose Pride Festival - June 10th & 11th The chapter will return once again to participate in the San Jose Pride festivities. We'll have our Mighty Broncy bucking machine in the festival area both Saturday June 10th and Sunday June 11th--always a very popular attraction. We encourage you to help out in the festival area either Saturday or Sunday. To volunteer and for more information, please contact us right away by emailing news@bayarearodeo.com SF Pride Parade Monitor Training In order to have a float and contingent in the San Francisco Pride Parade, we need as many of you as possible to attend a special "Pride Parade Monitor Training." It's only about an hour long, it's easy, it's entertaining, and it's absolutely crucial for us to do. Even those of us that have been through it before, must take the training again. Please pick from one of the many available dates below and let Doug Graff, our VP of Administration, know that you're attending by emailing vpadmin@bayarearodeo.com Available Parade Monitor Training dates/locations:
Buckin' the Heart...of the Castro - June 28th On Wednesday, June 28th, throw on your cowboy hat and join Gloria Whole, Miss Bay Area Rodeo 2006, for the first in a series of monthly country parties to be held at the fabulous Harvey's (18th & Castro) in the heart of the Castro, San Francisco. The party will begin at 8:00 pm and will feature plenty of great country music, entertainment, and surprises. All proceeds from this event will benefit Under One Roof. We're Calgary Bound! The Bay Area Chapter invites you to make your travel plans, reserve your RV, send in your contestant entry forms, and join everyone for a very special trip to Alberta for the Calgary Gay Rodeo. With the many hundreds of people camping in tents and RVs right at the rodeo grounds, and with the many hundreds more locals that come in from town by bus for the parties, this is always one of the most unique and enjoyable rodeos on the IGRA circuit. And, as a further incentive, the chapter has set aside a "travel fund" to help offset the travel costs and/or contestant entry fees for all Bay Area Chapter members who go. For more information, visit http://www.bayarearodeo.com/Events/calgary-rodeo.html Contestant registration deadline is tomorrow, June 9th. If you haven't already, get those contestant forms mailed in to avoid penalty. If you're heading to Calgary, please send an email today confirming your presence. We need to get an accurate count of Bay Area attendees in order to make final plans. Ho-Down in Hayward - Club Rumor - July 1st Kick off your Fourth of July weekend the proper way by joining us in the East Bay for an over-the-top party, show, and full bar-b-que. Jessica Avalon will be hosting and you can count on plenty of great country-western dancing, entertainment, a silent auction, and some wonderful raffle prizes. Don't miss it! Club Rumor, 22554 Main Street, Hayward - Saturday, July 1st from 1:00 pm to 5:00 pm.
