Latest Chapter News Tuesday, May 23, 2006 It's hard to believe that May is drawing to a close already. What a great month it has been for the Bay Area Chapter. But we aren't done just yet. You won't want to miss this weekend's BBQ and Parking Lot Rodeo School at Sundance Saloon--it's a tremendously fun way to celebrate gay rodeo, country-western dancing, and the Memorial Day weekend. June is, of course, right around the corner and that means it's "Pride Season." We hope you plan to participate with the chapter in our San Jose and San Francisco pride activities. And then... we're off to Calgary for a weekend of rodeo Canadian style. Read on for all the crucial details... Driscoll Ranch Work Party - May 27th The Rodeo Production Committee could use your help this Saturday, May 27th for an afternoon at out lovely rodeo grounds in La Honda. We're holding a short production meeting there, enjoying a nice lunch under the redwoods, and then getting busy reorganizing our storage trailer. With all of us there, the work will go quickly and there will be plenty of time to get to know other chapter members better. Plan to meet at the ranch at 10:30 AM. Please take a moment to let our Rodeo Director know you'll be joining in by emailing rodeo@bayarearodeo.com. Not been to the ranch before? No worries... directions can be found at http://www.bayarearodeo.com/Rodeo2006/BB06-grounds.html Parking Lot Rodeo School & BBQ - May 28th Join the fun on Sunday of Memorial Day Weekend, May 28th, when the Bay Area Chapter brings our "Parking Lot Rodeo School" to Sundance Saloon. It's followed by a great night of dancing. Sundance Saloon, 550 Barneveld, San Francisco. Through the tremendous efforts of their committed volunteers, they are are proud to announce that Sundance Saloon will now happen every Thursday as well as every Sunday beginning on June 1st. Join them on the 1st at 6:30 pm for a very special grand opening reception. 550 Barneveld, San Francisco. San Jose Pride Parade & Festival - June 10th & 11th The chapter will return once again to participate in the San Jose Pride festivities. We'll have our Mighty Broncy bucking machine in the festival area both Saturday June 10th and Sunday June 11th--always a very popular attraction. In addition, we're planning on cranking out some great country music along the parade route on the morning of Sunday the 11th. We encourage you to join us in the parade and help out in the festival area. For complete information, please contact us by emailing news@bayarearodeo.com We're Calgary Bound! The Bay Area Chapter invites you to make your travel plans, reserve your RV, send in your contestant entry forms, and join everyone for a very special trip to Alberta for the Calgary Gay Rodeo. With the many hundreds of people camping in tents and RVs right at the rodeo grounds, and with the many hundreds more locals that come in from town by bus for the parties, this is always one of the most unique and enjoyable rodeos on the IGRA circuit. And, as a further incentive, the chapter has set aside a "travel fund" to help offset the travel costs and/or contestant entry fees for all Bay Area Chapter members who go.
