Latest Chapter News Tuesday, May 22, 2007 Another Great Dance, Another Great Meeting We kicked off the month of May with our Buckin' Spring dance at the Cathedral Hill Hotel. It was the first time we tried a Friday Night dance event and, thanks to to an amazing amount of great promotion by our Fundraising Committee, it was another wonderful event for the chapter. Our next dance event will be at the end of July when we bring back "Buckin' Alley". It's one you won't want to miss. Watch for complete details in the coming weeks. Our May chapter meeting was perhaps the best so far this year. We kicked off a very important conversation for the chapter--our future. Lots of great ideas were put on on the table looking at what we do well, what we need to do better, and things we should try doing to further strengthen the health of organization and to begin creating a clear path for our future rodeo directors, committee chairs, and board members to follow. We'll be continuing the conversation in our June meeting and encourage all of you to take part. If you can't make a meeting, but have ideas on what the chapter should be doing differently, please don't hesitate to drop us an email at board@bayarearodeo.com There's a whole lot going on within the chapter over the next several weeks. On with all the latest news... Memorial Day Weekend - What better way to celebrate Memorial Day Weekend than with some barbeque and a little rodeo-related fun? We're setting up in front of Sundance Saloon (550 Barneveld, San Francisco) from 4 pm to 7 pm. All are welcome and encouraged to drop in for some good food, some buckin' action on Broncy, roping lessons on our roping dummies, and other rodeo games. After the fun, head inside Sundance Saloon for some great dancing. Their open early this weekend as part of the celebration. The barbeque is only $5. Bring your friends! San Diego Rodeo: June 1-3 Coming up the weekend of June 1-3 is this year's other great California gay rodeo... in sunny San Diego! The parties are sure to be great. The rodeo action is sure to be hot. And a whole lot of us from the Bay Area Chapter will be there to compete and take part in all the fun. We're hoping you're going head to join us. For complete information on the rodeo weekend, visit SanDiegoRodeo.com San Diego Merchandise Booth San Jose Pride Festival & Parade: June 9-10 On the weekend of June 9th and 10th, we're all heading to downtown San Jose to celebrate our pride! It's two full days of fun in Discovery Meadow with lots of live music, country-western dancing, food, vendors, and us. We'll be giving buckin' instructions on our Broncy, roping lessons on our dummy calfs, selling rodeo merchandise, and otherwise just having a good time together. On Sunday morning, we take a break from the meadow to make a big country splash in the pride parade that winds right through downtown. We Need You! Rough Stock Rodeo School: July 7th It's confirmed. We're bringing back our very popular Rough Stock Rodeo School on Saturday, July 7th in Morgan Hill, CA. Students can enroll in professional instruction in Bull Riding or Chute Dogging. You can count on learning all you need to know to compete (and win prize money) at the next rodeo. It's a fantastic learning opportunity, even if you've never attempted these events before. There's a lot of ground schooling and then plenty of attempts with some of the same stock you'll find in our rodeos. Mark your calendars and watch for complete details on enrollment on this website in the next week. For questions, contact Mikel Edwards (vprodeo@bayarearodeo.com). Do You Have News? Comments?
