Latest Chapter News Tuesday, April 18, 2006 This edition of the BAC News Blast marks our return to a weekly frequency. You can count on receiving the latest chapter news and event information at the beginning of each week. A whole lot of great events came and went in the few weeks since the last blast. We hope your were able to take part in some or all of them! That being said, we're in no way taking a rest... there's a whole lot of fun ahead for the chapter. Now, on with this week's news... Gloria Whole Sets Fundraising Record Congratulations are in order to Gloria Whole, contestant for Miss Bay Area Rodeo 2006. On March 24th she held a chapter fundraiser at Marlena's to fufill one of the requirements for the royalty team. It was a fantastic event with lots of great entertainment, but of even more significant note--the event blew the minimum requirements out of the water and brought in over $700 for the chapter. That's a new record for a Chapter Royalty Team Contestant fundraiser. Well done, Gloria! Rodeo Party Featuring the "Parents of Royalty" - April 21st On Friday, April 21st, your reigning Bay Area Rodeo Royalty Team hosts an evening of fabulous entertainment featuring performances of past chapter royalty team members. It's a celebration of our history of gay rodeo right here in the SF Bay Area. You can count on some great drink specials and rumor has it that those georgeous Midori boys will be on hand to spice things up. Don't miss it! Cafe Flore (Market @ Noe), 9 pm - Midnight. For more information, visit http://www.bayarearodeo.com/Events/rodeoparty.html Mr./Ms./Miss Bay Area Rodeo Royalty Contest - April 22nd Our current royalty team--Miss Patty Wagon, Bruce Wilkinson, and Stephen Taylor have done an incredible job for the chapter over the past year. But like all great things, their reign must come to an end so a new team can step up. That'll all happen on the evening of Saturday, April 22nd at Marlena's (488 Hayes Street) in San Francisco. The party begins at 8:00 pm with the competition and plenty of great entertainment kicking off at 9:00 pm sharp. Have you always wanted to learn how to chute dog? Or maybe you just want to know how to better assist those who compete in these events? If so, we've got great news for you. On Saturday, May 13th the chapter is hosting a full day Rough Stock Rodeo School in Morgan Hill, CA. With a combination of ground training and plenty of attempts on great livestock, you'll learn all you need to learn whether your looking to compete for the first time or just want to dramatically improve your competitive skills. Enrollment in this school is limited. Contact our VP of Rodeo right away if you're interested: vprodeo@bayarearodeo.com Bay Area Chapter Announces 2006 Beneficiaries In our chapter meeting on April 11th, our members voted on the selection of our official chapter beneficiaries for 2006. It is with great pleasure that we announce to you that this year our designated charities are Project Open Hand and Rocket Dog Rescue. At the conclusion of our year, excess revenues from our rodeo and other various fundraising activities will be equally distributed to these two deserving charities.
