Latest Chapter News

Tuesday, January 31, 2006

Simply awesome! Those are the first words that come to mind when looking back on the GSGRA convention and our Western Winter Ball last weekend. To all of you who made it out for one or more of the weekend events, and to the many of you who helped make it all run so smoothly, thank you! The kickoff party was a blast, the meetings ran without a hitch, and the turnout for the pageant & dance was phenomenal. By all accounts everyone had a great time.

Now, on with this week's news...

Congratulations to Mr. GSGRA 2006 - Stephen Taylor

A big congratulations goes out to our own Stephen Taylor for winning the title of Mr. Golden State Gay Rodeo Association 2006. Joining him on the team is Ms. GSGRA '06 -- Elizabeth Anderson from Palm Springs. Good going Stephen... we know you'll do the chapter proud in your year on the GSGRA team.

Miss Trout, Thanks for All the Fish!

Miss Trout, the chapter is very proud to call you our own. Your reign as Miss GSGRA 2005 along with your Mr., Steve Wollert of San Diego, has raised the bar for our royalty program. Your graciousness, your untiring efforts, and your significant contributions to the community are to be commended. And damn... no one can disagree that your step-down performance on Saturday night was simply "off the hook"!

Selection of 2006 Beneficiary - February 7th

At our January chapter meeting we began discussing the selection of a chapter beneficiary for 2006 and it is our intention to officially vote on this at our next meeting on February 7th. This is an important decision for the chapter as it is one of the ways we make a difference in our community. All members who would like to make a recommendation of a charity should come prepared to give a 1-2 minute presentation about their organization. The meeting will be held Tuesday, February 7th beginning at 7:30 pm at Marlena's (488 Hayes St., SF).

Chapter Night Out at PBR - February 11th

Interested in catching some hot bull riding action? Then join other chapter members when one of the Professional Bull Riders (PBR) challenger tours makes it's way through the Bay Area. The event is on Saturday, February 11th at the Oakland Arena.

IGRA University - February 17th-19th

It's not too late for you to make it to Las Vegas the weekend of February 17th through 19th for the International Gay Rodeo Association's University. The Bay Area Chapter would like to see as many chapter members as possible at IGRA University this year and to make that happen, we've set aside $1000 in scholarship money. The money will be divided among attending chapter members to help offset travel and lodging expenses. For complete information on the scholarship, email us at news@bayarearodeo.com. For more information on University, visit the IGRA University website and consider registering today. (http://igra.com/University)
